Biometrics in 2014

I thought I would have my blood screened and do an assessment of my cholesterol so I could get numbers/data. I've been a bit naughty and my biometrics have gotten worse. I have also been exercising less, so maybe that lack of exercise has contributed to higher cholesterol. Also, I've been vegetarian and a diet with cheese and eggs is not the best idea—those things are full of cholesterol.

So if you workplace provides a health screening I would suggest getting one and just seeing your numbers. I'm doing this to make sure I live a long, healthy life.

Biometrics in 2013

We had another Biometric screening at work, trying to track all these results. I am rather nerdy about checking blood pressure and I like to make sure I take care of myself.

I feel my riskiest behavior is actually working. I have noticed working long hours and not sleeping enough has a negative effect on my blood pressure.

My body fat % has gone up, mainly because I am not working out my upper body. I got down to 10% last year, doing swimming, yoga, running and weights.

This is nerdy but I frequently track my blood pressure and weight to see how lifestyle factors effect my health. Every time I go to the Kroger i jump on that lil machine by the pharmacy. They must think I am a loon.

This was at the dentist, my blood pressure is always high there! Aside from the obvious perhaps it is because I am coming from work too, having to run out the door for a dental appt.

BioMetrics 2012

I had my weight, blood pressure, and blood checked at the health fair at work. I like to use these screenings as mile posts on my journey through a healthy, active life.

A little less "healthy" than last year! Better hit more veggies!

Since I got an irregular reading last winter I have been kind of obsessed with my blood pressure and biometric readings. I've been monitoring this whenever I go to Krogers, they have a cool machine thing.

I went to the dentist in January and she freaked me out about my "high" blood pressure (she said I was over 130 which is pre-hypertension) so I've been testing myself at local pharmacies. I've been experimenting with diet. But I also feel like work/life stress and sleep (or lack of 7-8 hours per night) is my main barrier to a lower blood pressure.

I'm wondering if my blood pressure was higher at the dentist because I just came from work, probably had to jog to get to my appointment, and she tested my right arm and not my left arm.,,

Friday, January 20, 2012

I went to the dentist today. They said my blood pressure was 130/73 (with a pulse of 54)... I'm a bit worried about that. It's a tad high.

This week I took off to recover, but I've been working too much, not sleeping and drinking a lot. These are major causes of the high blood pressure.

I'm planning some changes for the new year with my diet. Last year I realized I was typically not eating enough calories to build muscle. So I began to eat more, and eat more protein.

But I got into the bad habit of cramming a bunch of food down my throat. Sometimes it was salty or fatty food, and I started to eat quickly again without thinking of what I was eating.

So I want to cut back on salt, eat more veggies and I plan to try some radical new diets. Stay tuned in!
